Summary
- We use Google Analytics 4 for aggregate page-view counts only.
- We do not log identifying detail tied to which reason a visitor is researching, which combinations of pages they visit, or which publication-waiver / safety-concern surfaces they read.
- We do not run third-party advertising pixels (no Meta pixel, no remarketing tags, no FB / X tracking).
- We default-deny advertising / personalization consent under Google Consent Mode v2; analytics-only consent is also opt-in via the cookie banner.
- Lawyer-match form submissions, when used, are stored locally on our server in a private queue; we do not share form data with third parties beyond the explicit affiliate referral.
- We do not sell or rent visitor data.
What we collect
When you visit NameChangeMap.us, we collect:
- Aggregate analytics: page URLs visited, country/region (city level coarsened by Google), browser and device class, referrer source. We use this to understand which pages are most useful and which need work.
- State-grid clicks (aggregate): we log only the state code clicked (e.g., “CA”) as an aggregate event. We do not log combinations of clicks, search-bar inputs, or anything tied to a session in a way that could identify a case.
- Lawyer-match form fields (when submitted): the fields you choose to fill (name, email, state, optional note). Stored locally for operator follow-up. Deleted on request.
What we do NOT collect
- The reason for your name-change research. We never log “visitor read /reasons-without-judgment for 4 minutes,” “visitor opened gender-affirming reason card,” or any combination tied to identity.
- IP addresses tied to GA events. Google's IP-anonymization is enabled.
- Device fingerprints, fingerprint hashes, or persistent cross-site identifiers.
- Third-party advertising pixel data. We do not run Meta / X / TikTok / LinkedIn pixels or remarketing tags.
Cookies
We use a single cookie (namechangemap-us-cookie-consent) to remember your consent choice. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga, _ga_*) for aggregate analytics.
Lawyer-match data
If you submit the lawyer-match form, we store: (a) your submitted fields, (b) a sha-256 fingerprint of your email (so the operator can deduplicate without exposing the raw email in downstream pipelines), and (c) a timestamp. We do not store IP or device identifiers with the submission. Submissions are queued locally pending the operator's affiliate-network handoff. Email [email protected] to request deletion.
Affiliate disclosure
When you click through to LegalZoom from our lawyer-match flow, the partner network may set its own cookies for attribution. Those cookies are governed by LegalZoom's privacy policy. We earn a referral fee for engagements completed through our link; full disclaimer.
Data retention
GA4 events are retained at Google's default retention (currently 14 months). Lawyer-match submissions are retained for 12 months unless you request deletion sooner.
Your rights
You can opt out of analytics at any time via the cookie banner (Decline) or by clearing the cookie and refreshing. To request deletion of any lawyer-match submission tied to you, email [email protected] with the email address you submitted; we delete on request without question.
Children
NameChangeMap.us is not directed at children under 13. The minor-name-change pillar is a procedural reference for parents and guardians, not for direct use by minors.
